Exhibition // On show @BIOTOPIA/DISSIDENT GARDENS – Het Nieuwe Instituut – Rotterdam (NL)

BIOTOPIA will showcase the work of different selected studios, focusing on the role of the designer as researcher and developer of novel materials and processes, grown by means of cooperation with living systems/cells.

In this context, the selected designers will be presented as hybrid mixed figures, comprising qualities akin to the ones of the gardener, the farmer, the scientist, the technologist – or an intersection thereof.

Besides showcasing the actual processes, materials and outcomes, the exhibition will reflect on the nature of such morphing design practices, with specific focus on the operating environments and tools, on the related transformative processes and on the (living) materials involved.

Officina Corpuscoli’s work and processes as well as MOGU materials and products will be presented as part of BIOTOPIA. Other participants include: Julia Lohmann, Makkink & Bey, Tjeerd Veenhoven and Cecilia Raspanti.
